Aspengrove School
7660 Clark Drive
Nanaimo, BC
September 2006

Project Description

Aspengrove School, a highly successful and well respected private school, identified, in response to increasing enrolment, a need for more classroom space, a new gymnasium space, the construction of a new early childhood education center and construction of sports fields. To facilitate the construction of a new school and to provide the permanence necessary to further establish the school in the community a group of parents purchased land on Clark Drive for the schools use.

This project included the design and construction of a new 4,000 square foot single storey ECE building; the relocation, upgrading and expansion of the existing modular school to a new building area of 14,000, and the construction of a new 6,000 square foot "sprung building" as the gymnasium on an undeveloped and unserviced site located in south Lantzville.

The project design and construction documentation phases were completed in the late fall of 2005 and the early part of 2006. Site preparation (clearing, blasting, and excavation), well drilling and trade tendering continued through the spring of 2006. The project broke ground for construction in April 2006 and was completed in time for a school opening on 11 September 2006.
