Bob Moss

Career Abstract

Following a technical career that included marine electronics service, telephone central office engineering and customer technical service for Xerox Canada, Bob's interest in real estate investment led him to further studies in real estate management and finance. As a mortgage broker, he sourced conventional and private financing for both residential and commercial projects. Subsequent experience with Montreal Trust involved mortgage underwriting for various residential and commercial projects including construction financing. At Montreal Trust, Bob's responsibilities evolved to include branch management.

As a Regional Manager based in Nanaimo, Bob was responsible for management of a diverse portfolio of commercial properties including office, industrial and retail properties located in BC. This position evolved into an agency property management business in which he is a principal. During this period, he has had primary responsibility for the management, leasing, financing, renovation and sale of commercial properties owned by local, national and international investors. Some of the major projects completed for clients include:

renovation of a 20,000 sq ft heritage office building in Victoria
sale of a $10 million portfolio of office and retail properties
refinancing and returning profitability to a 430,000 sq ft light industrial complex in Winnipeg
complete renovation of the historic Great National Land Building in Nanaimo
taking a private real estate company public on the CDNX
establishing the original strata management structure for the community of Craig Bay in Parksville
management of a $2.6 million building envelope restoration for a Nanaimo strata residential building
syndication of a Nanaimo office building investment
sourcing $3.2 million refinancing for a Nanaimo retail strip plaza
The property management business has grown to include brokerage and consulting services. The firm has now associated with the J.J. Barnicke National Association and Bob is the president and managing broker. He continues to be actively involved in investment sales, asset management, financing and syndication.
